Day 19 // The Kingdom Way

Jan 26, 2025

“So whatever you wish that others would do to you, do also to them, for this is the Law and the Prophets. “Enter by the narrow gate. For the gate is wide and the way is easy that leads to destruction, and those who enter by it are many. For the gate is narrow and the way is hard that leads to life, and those who find it are few.” Matthew 7:12-14

In the Sermon on the Mount, Jesus gives us a picture of what Kingdom life looks like. He lets us know who He wants His followers to be and what He wants His followers to do. He describes a life that is counter-cultural—a life that does not make sense from the outside looking in. But from the inside lived out, it experiences and displays true life. A life that mirrors Christ’s by serving sacrificially, loving those who hate you, praying for those who harm you, and giving freely.

It is no wonder that Jesus describes this life as a narrow gate. This is not the type of life that many will choose because it is not a life that makes sense in the flesh but only in the Spirit. Those who choose to follow this King in this Kingdom will find the road difficult and lonely at times, but they will also find something different -- life. A genuine, unhypocritical, flourishing, powerful life. This life believes power is found in the ways of the Kingdom, not the ways of the world. The Kingdom Way may be narrow, but on it there is life everlasting.

Pray:

> Take a moment to thank God that He has provided you with eternal life.

> For God to show you any ways you might not be living and displaying the Kingdom Way and ask God to help you live a life that accurately reflects your King.

> Ask God that His Kingdom would come, and His will would done today, in your life, on earth as it is in Heaven.
