Report of God’s Mercies 5.5.11

“I glorified You on the earth, having accomplished the work which You have given Me to do." (John 17:4)

What a statement. To be able to come to the end of your life and say, “I have accomplished the work which You (God) have given Me to do.” The reason Christ could say this is that He “always did the will of His Father.” He was constantly living in two kingdoms, watching and listening to the Father, not resisting in the least what His Father told Him to do. He did what He saw His Father doing and said what He heard His Father saying. The result? He accomplished what His Father desired.

What is the work God has given YOU to do? Your family? Your church? That was the question the Lord brought to us last night from this incredible passage. Much time was spent realizing that the Lord has graciously called us as a church to a work of intercession for the church in Central Arkansas. For some reason known only to Him, He has placed this burden that has carried us for 5 weeks in prayer.

We have never prayed like this before and would not at all be engaged in this but for His gracious call and strengthening. But, it helps us to realize the responsibility of our calling. This has been, in these precious weeks, the work God has called us to accomplish. What a privilege to have His calling, His initiating, His direction, and His gracious empowering!

Yesterday was another wonderful day following Him:

  • Met with 25+ pastors and ministry leaders in Benton, Ark. to report what God was doing and pray together
  • At the prayer meeting heard multiple reports of people God was using to witness throughout the city.
  • One lady trusting Christ in the service
  • Another lady sharing Christ in a Laundromat
  • Another lady helping with a lawn service with her husband and sharing with a widow and realizing THIS was her calling—to ministry to the ladies in her community.
  • An ex-convict who we had prayed for last week coming to pray that God had finally provided the job we had interceded about—and it was for a SECURITY COMPANY!
  • An alcoholic admitting his need and receiving fervent prayer
  • A woman entering late and saying she had traveled all day from Michigan to be in a place where revival was occurring and also where there might be faith to intercede for her prodigal son. The church moved into INTENSE prayer on their behalf. At one point, the ladies were gathered around her and the men in the pews began spontaneously crying out strong prayers in the congregation on his behalf.
  • A man comes to admit his confusion re: God’s calling for his life, how it is affecting him and his family, his pride that prevented him from coming earlier and the church gathered to pray for their family.
  • Intense prayer for the church in the city and the citywide prayer gathering the next night (Thursday, May 5).
  • And on and on…

We will MOVE OUR PRAYER MEETING TONIGHT
to the citywide prayer meeting at
Immanuel Baptist Church at 7 PM.
