It has been 3 continuous weeks. 3 weeks of God’s presence 3 weeks of God calling people (no pastor or program could do this) to come each night for 3-4 hours of prayer and worship 3 weeks of His speaking and His people listening 3 weeks of instant obedience by so many. Of learning what it means to “not quench the Spirit” and not “denying” His truth 3 weeks of salvation and changed lives (61 baptized so far…spontaneously, wonderfully) 3 weeks of travailing in prayer for the whole church in the city and the lost 3 weeks of God specifically leading...

Last night, we began with a teaching on Acts 2 and 4. It was beautiful to be reminded that we are experiencing, in a wonderful measure, exactly what was happening in the book of Acts. But we pointed out that there is one component that we are not yet quite seeing. “No one considered that anything they had was their own.” This is hard for us to even imagine because our thinking about our possessions-even among the most committed believers-is so Americanized. What would it be like if EVERY believer in the WHOLE CHURCH IN THE CITY didn’t...

Revival Re-orientation. There are things I have never understood before that are becoming amazingly clear. Our staff was sharing and praying this morning as we have now been doing every morning together, and realizing that God is wonderfully re-orienting our entire paradigm of ministry. Please don’t interpret this post (or anything I’ve recorded in the past) as indicating that what is happening is perfect and every problem is resolved. God has much work to do and what we are experiencing, we know, is a mercy drop. But it is opening up our eyes to new realities. ...

Day 18, Wednesday, 4.20.11 “You…have seen the outcome of the Lord’s dealings that the Lord is full of compassion and is merciful.” (James 5:11) What happens when the Lord sovereignly visits His people? We are seeing at The Summit Church, in this moment a “mercy drop” compared to what we all long for, but a wonderful visitation from the Lord that began April 3 and has continued unabated for the past 20 days. We long for and need a great outpouring on our city, state, and nation. That God would do for us something that...

How could this get better? It seems that every night God lays a very, very specific issue on our hearts through someone’s need, a testimony or scripture and then God gives us the awesome privilege of praying that through in wonderful ways. Monday night the Lord called us to not only be willing to share Christ, but aggressively ask God for folks to share with this week. He drilled this into our souls by… The testimony of Jimmy who was living in a tent a week ago. One of our men, Seth, was prompted to get up...

I have wondered this past week how long this season of God’s incredible outpouring would continue. Should we meet next week? What will happen Sunday? We are content to wait on God and let Him graciously lead us day-by-day…literally moment-by-moment and He is SO FAITHFUL. Every leader who I have talked to in our church says that we must continue…and the Lord confirmed that again wonderfully today. Sunday morning the Lord showed up in great power. Again this week our two services merged into one lasting from 9 am until almost 2 pm. At our North...

The Lord continues to call us together to intercede and meet with us in deeper and greater ways. Friday night, 4.15.11, we gathered for another 3 hours of intense intercession. After a word from a brother who we had prayed for who went into Libya with a cross last week (a glorious story of God’s protection and ministry) and the reports of some pastors from Tulsa who requested prayer for their city (and a lady who came up to say she used to live in Tulsa and that God had told here THAT MORNING to make reconciliation with some people...

Many people have been asking about what the Lord seems to be doing in our midst in these days. Who knows all God has in His matchless mind for these days? But there are some things I do know. I DO KNOW: The Lord graciously awakened our church two weeks ago. We have been praying and we have been teaching for years, our city pastors have been praying for 15 years, but what the Lord did last Sunday was taken completely out of our hands as we yielded our TIME and the CONTROL of the service to Him. To see a...

The Lord graciously met us again tonight in a sober way. A dear brother shared a strong word on his heart regarding the sin of divorce and the destruction of our homes and the calling of God for repentance in every way that we have sinned against the Lord in breaking His covenant. This led to… An extensive time of prayer for many, many marriages Courageous sharing by a teenager daughter asking healing for her family; a father who has suffered a divorce sharing the heartache and need for the love of God and the church family (“I...

The Lord graciously met with us again tonight. Each night has taken on a different direction. Tuesday night the Lord, through the people and His Word, graciously reminded us so sweetly of His love for us, our identity in Christ and all that we have in Him. In the midst of 3 ½ hours of prayer… • 3 baptisms. One was a man who a few weeks ago had been living under the I-430 Bridge for 7 years. Incredible moment as a staff member relates his story of redemption, his leading of man who was living in a car to Christ...
