Whenever you bring a group together for an intense, intentional, spiritually focused period of time, there is room for God to do some pretty amazing things. Amidst all the production, loudness, games, and activities, the gospel of Jesus was presented "wrapped in human flesh" to over 80 K-5th graders last week at Kidz Camp. We had 57 adult and teen leaders whose sole purpose was to share the message of Christ through their words and their lives through large group worship, small group interaction, games, meals, and activities. Here's the rundown of the week:
Stories and Messages
"We're Gonna Follow the Star" The story of the wise men who sought out a Savior and Messiah
"We're Gonna Shine His Light" The story of John the Baptist who spoke about a coming Savior
"Be Who He Wants Us to Be" The story of men who had gifts and talents they didn't realize they had - the Disciples
"Shout the Story" The story of the healed blind man - "I don't know much, but I once was blind - now I see!"
"We Believe What he Says" The story of Nicodemus who comes to know and believe in a true LIFE.
"We Know That He Won the Fight" The story of Mary Magdalene who is forgiven and follows Jesus to the cross and the EMPTY tomb
"We Will Show the World" The story of Jesus appearing to the men on the Emmaus road and hearing their amazing story of the Messiah
"We Will Chase the Light" The story of Pentecost - the disciples preach the gospel and thousands find life in Jesus
Throughout the week, these stories were reiterated through a dramatic tale of Alex and Trevor, two unlikely friends who meet at a summer arts camp. They realize in a series of fortunate events that we're all misfits, and God loves and forgives misfits.
The older kids spent quantity and quality time with their leaders during Late Night games and at Mid America Museum and Magic Springs. Awesome fun!
Camp culminated in a Kidz Blitz Production for the parents where the kids presented their gifts and talents in the areas of drama, puppetry, dance, music, media, and art.
Much thanks to the entire team of folks who prepared for camp in logistics, prayer, and hands on ministry with the kids. It was an amazing week!
