So...It's Your Move Just in case you haven't read all 7 blogs before, here's the cliffnotes version of my Orange Blogs. We are created to MOVE. Jesus reminds us to make ONE move; LOVE God with every part of you that moves. That one move toward God influences how everything else moves. It specifically moves us to love others and ourselves in a better way. As a leader, parent, teacher, mentor, or coach, you are called to help the next generation MOVE in a better direction relationally. So you should incite WONDER to move them to trust...

We win as parents and leaders if our teens one day walk away believing that... 1. I am created to pursue an authentic relationship with my Creator. 2. I belong to Jesus Christ and define who I am by what He says. 3. I exist every day to demonstrate God's love to a broken world. These beliefs echo again what Jesus said 2000 years ago about how we are supposed to love God and our world. He confronted the irrelevant, legalistic, judgmental religious attitudes of His culture. The Pharisee promoted a religious system based on law- they were closing...

Mission. Discipleship. Love. Grace. Truth. These words define the topics of conversations, sermons, and heart desires of the leadership and the people of The Summit Church. We have planted churches, developed multi-sites, fed the poor, discipled the homeless, given resources, sent missionaries all over the planet and the list goes on and on. In January, we will be "honing" in on one particular command of God that deals with every one of those Summit DNA words. James 1:27 begins by stating that "Religion that God accepts as pure and faultless is this; look after widows and orphans in...

This past weekend, several middle school young ladies and their moms joined us at the TSC Crystal Hill campus for an awesome event as we partner with parents to "Imagine the End" regarding our girls and their spiritual development. Here are some take aways from Designed 2 Dazzle. (from a dude snoopin' from the sound booth) 1. "Don't show off your fixtures"! What you're selling is about who you are, not what you're offering. 2. "No huggy-body, licky-face". If you want a spouse who is faithful and a covenant keeper, best practice that inner trait yourself now. 3. "You don'...

Our solar system is moving 490,000 miles per hour around the center of our galaxy. The earth is moving around the sun at 67,000 miles per hour. The surface of the earth at the equator moves at a speed of 1000 miles per hour around the earth's axis. That's a whole lot of moving for one planet! You may say, "Who cares?" That's exactly the point. For an earth that moves so quickly, it seems like too many people are stuck. They need to move more radically, deliberately, and passionately to engage with those who live in...

Discovering the creative potential of our children is often one of the primary motives for enrolling our children in a long list of activities, programs, teams and opportunities. We want to help our children discover their God-given creative potential, but in the process we can easily create an unsustainable schedule that leaves everyone in the family feeling more stressed than energized and more drained than creative? This month, take some time to think though your family’s schedule. What kind of pace are you trying to maintain? Are there things that you might need to cut out? Are...

Recently I was asked to share with our whole church the mission and philosophy of our children's ministry - in 3 minutes! Quite a challenge, but definitely a fun one. I'd like to share it here on this blog so it's in a written form for anyone to check out. Summit Kidz is dedicated to partnering with parents in developing children who understand the nature of God, their relationship to Him, and their purpose in His big story. 1. The Nature of God: In First Look (our preschool ministry), we intend for every child to know that...

It's hard to believe, but we are just a few weeks away from a new children's ministry season! I am so blessed and encouraged by the body of believers here at TSC. The Lord has been gracious to us as He always is, and has allowed us to see much fruit in ministry this year. I praise Him for who He is and the great things He has done! As we walk into a new ministry season this fall, we have been blessed with much growth; spiritually and physically. Many new babies have been...

Whenever you bring a group together for an intense, intentional, spiritually focused period of time, there is room for God to do some pretty amazing things. Amidst all the production, loudness, games, and activities, the gospel of Jesus was presented "wrapped in human flesh" to over 80 K-5th graders last week at Kidz Camp. We had 57 adult and teen leaders whose sole purpose was to share the message of Christ through their words and their lives through large group worship, small group interaction, games, meals, and activities. Here's the rundown of the week: Stories and Messages ...
