According to a net poll done by ChristiaNet in August of 2006, 50% of Christian men admitted to being addicted to porn…and 20% of women. Surprised? Probably not, it's affecting everyone. It doesn't surprise me because, in August of 2006, I was one of those statistics…and I’d be willing to bet that those stats are higher in 2011. Porn. Masturbation. Sex. Even reading those words are uncomfortable for most people (especially the middle one). They are graphic words. Delicate words. Weighty words. Awkward words. Words we, as parents, need to talk about often...

I learn more about GOD from my 16-month-old daughter than I do most people. Not because Mae is incredibly wise- she can say “yes”, “dada”, “fish”, and “mama”, none of which carry much theological weight when strung together in a sentence- but because I see glimpses of the love my Heavenly Father has for me when I’m with her. I love my dad. I remember, as a child, laughing with my little brothers as he walked through the house singing (to the tune of "if you're happy and you know it") "I LOVE MY BOOOYS, YES I DOOOO!" He took so much pride and pleasure in us that he would sing...and we still remember it 20 years later. But it never really hit me what that was like until I had a daughter. It's funny, I'll be making Mae something to eat for lunch and suddenly break out into a random song about...

We've all heard the saying a thousand times, "don't let a fat high school kid, who's trying to impress a girl, run down bleachers at a soccer game with Subway in his hand". OH WAIT...IF WE'VE ALL HEARD THE SAYING A THOUSAND TIMES, WHY DIDN'T SOMEONE SAY IT TO ME IN THE 10TH GRADE?! It would've saved me a broken leg...and a broken heart. (the last part was whispered, in order to hold back the tears) You see, there was this girl named Jaclyn who I had a crush on back...

My daughter Mae just turned 9 months old this week. It has been a 9-month whirlwind of different phases and emotions as we watch her grow up (which is happening way too fast by the way). She’s beginning the phase now where she always wants mommy or daddy to be beside her. Take the other day for instance, as I was getting her ready to go, I put her in the car seat then set her in the living room so I could turn off lights and grab a couple of things for our trip. The...
