Last week, we let our students write down one question they've always wanted to ask about dating. They asked some INCREDIBLE ones. We (my wife Danielle and I) picked the top 24 and are going to try to begin shedding some light on them tomorrow night at DATE NIGHT!!!
If you are a parent of a high school student...here are 24 questions you need to be helping them answer:
1. How do you make a date not awkward?
2. What do guys want to talk about?
3. How do you be encouraging to a guy without being flirty?
4. Can a dating relationship resemble an image of our relationship with Christ?
5. Why do guys think that girls are supposed to do all the work in the kitchen?
6. Is it bad to date in high school?
7. How do you decline an offer of courtship honorably?
8. What’s the best thing to say/do when they want to move too fast in the relationship?
9. How do you make it not awkward after you’ve broken up?
10. Why am I ALWAYS in the friend zone?
11. I know I’m supposed to trust God for my future husband, but what if God’s will for me is to be single?
12. When does a couple become “official”?
13. Is it a good idea to date long distance?
14. What do I do during a date? Do you need to go somewhere expensive? What should you wear?
15. How does this relate to something like a dance/prom?
16. How do I start a conversation when I’m nervous?
17. How far should I go physically? How physical can a relationship get that still honors God?
18. How can you break it to a girl (after becoming closer to God) that you were before God?
19. How do you respond when a girl responds negatively to your genuinely kind treatment towards her?
20. How can I lead my girlfriend closer to Christ?
21. Do you think parents should decide when you start dating or should you?
22. What do you do when you had a bad first impression with her parents?
23. How long should someone date before thinking about marriage?
24. At my school, there is a lot of pressure to have sex with your girlfriend. I know sex is too far, but what else is too far? And how do I handle the pressure?
Students- I've been very encouraged that you're asking some of these questions.
Parents- have some fun helping your students answer them! You have more say in their lives than anyone else on the planet!
